Most of these songs were written during the isolation of 2020 and 2021. The artist thought a lot about grief and death, enrolled in some death doula trainings, and learned about the ancient art of Keening. The artist had also enrolled in voice lessons in early 2020 that encouraged the use of "primal sound." This training made her think a little differently about how to use the voice. When she learned about Keening, she felt her primal sound training weaved perfectly in with the idea of vocalizing grief. The keening she refers to on this album is more of a metaphor, and sometimes coming from future (or past?) angel-robots who have lost all connection to humanity. Or maybe they were once human. It is really up to the listener to interpret.
